Order Food in surrey-hills

I did not want to review this place and shine light on this hidden gem. But this is one amazing place the spicy chicken noodles and the vegetable dumplings are amazing. The spiciness is perfect and the portion size perfect for the night. Did not expect this off the road place to taste this good. Will definitely come back again.

First, the obvious thing: this place is a value play. Where else can you get this much food for the prices they charge? But how does it taste? The food is nothing to shout about. The saving grace is that their sambal is pretty good. Other than that, it was pretty meh! And service? Nonexistent. To be expected. But to make things worse, even after repeating my order THREE times (asked for curry fish fillet bee hoon, not the regular white soup one), they still got it wrong!!! Seriously? Then it took more than 30 mins to get our food with appetizer coming last. I mean does nasi lemak take 30mins??? And it was pretty clear that they were prioritising takeaways because the guy after me got his food 15 mins before me. Nope - not worth the hassle even at the attractive prices.

Kambo is a traditional Cantonese restaurant. Old school in a good nostalgic way. We had crab noodles and ‘Chinese ham’ and both were delicious. Crab was fresh and full of meat, noodles were done nicely with lots of gravy. Chinese ham and jellyfish dish was tasty and smelled strongly of sesame oil. Service was extremely polite and friendly. To top it off we got free ‘tong suit’ and fruit after. Very nice experience, feels like the Chinese restaurants of my childhood. Best of all it was well priced for what we ate. Highly recommended.

When I had a dinner time I came to here. Taste is sooo nice and a lot menu not friendly staff but I don’t care. The most important thing in the restaurant is taste. Why don’t have a customer... Beef noodle soup is amazing. But when I ordered spring roll, The lettuce was not fresh, and the amount was small.

I found this little gem without any expectations. It felt like walking into someone's house who is keen to cook for me. The elderly man was most likely the owner who seemed like a humble human being with culinary skill. He helped us order and we were rapt with the dishes. The lamb ding ding noodles was just filling and flavourful. I surely want to try the other dishes next time and on top of that he was kind enough to let me try the Yoghurt drink for free! I just couldn't thank him enough for the hospitality.

August 2025: What a great find. Was walking along the lane towards Glenferrie train station when I noticed this restaurant. Apparently, it opened only 6 months prior. I am local and was not aware of this new establishment. Very pleased to see this restaurant in this location. The Penang White Curry Mee is not a dish you find in most Malaysian restaurants in Melbourne. I was pleasantly surprised to see a photo of this dish (amongst other great dishes) on their front wall. That's not all, it is priced much less than asian dishes prior to 2020. Congratulations to the owners of this restaurant for making it affordable for students and locals alike who seek out & enjoy genuine Malaysian Chinese cuisine. Will definitely be back to sample all the other dishes with friends. The staff members are very friendly and attentive. They will answer any questions you may have with a smile. I really enjoyed dining here. I highly recommend this restaurant 👌
