Fresh, Friendly, and Flathead Fantastic! 🍟 Bara Fish and Chips in Altona is the real deal. I went in for a quick bite and walked out with a new go-to spot. The flathead was absolutely spot-on — flaky, fresh, and fried to golden perfection. You can taste the quality in every bite. But what really sets this place apart? The girls behind the counter — warm, welcoming, and genuinely lovely. Service like this is rare and makes all the difference. Oh, and let’s talk about the steak sandwiches — hands down, the best in Altona. Juicy, flavorful, and stacked just right. 🤩 If you’re in the area and craving classic Aussie fish and chips with a side of top-tier service, this is your spot. 👍

Great service and great food!! Waiting time is not too long as well which was even better. Tried grilled fish and fried fish, everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Thank you to the boys who served us and cooked! 🩷 Also, really generous serving sizes for affordable prices!

Randomly found this hidden gem, cheap eats and family friendly. Food is amazing and so worth the price. Prices are so damn good too!! Definitely worth coming back. If you’re on a budget for food eateries. Prices are below $20.

Amazing value for Malaysian food in CBD! If you’re looking for cheap eats, this is the place to go. There’s a good selection of dishes at just $10 with other options going up to $25. Hainanese chicken rice was quite tasty with a decent portion of chicken, although we did feel some plates had more than another (we ordered 3 serves of it). Chicken chop with egg noodles had a generous serve of meat and noodles, good flavour too. Chee cheung fun with sweet sauce had enough sauce and tasted great! Mostly cheung fun though, compared to fish ball and fish skin. Sarawak konlomee was a bit dry with not enough sauce, making the noodles white (when they should be brown in colour due to sauce) and bit tasteless. Restaurant is on the smaller end so it really is just for eating and go, turnaround is quick due to popularity. It gets quite busy during peak lunch and dinner times so be prepared to wait for a table.

Returning to this restaurant after more than 10 years, the same tasty dishes and friendly owners make me feel at home. This place will be my canteen for lunch 4 days a week.
