I stopped going to Cafe Somerville since 2008 but have given it ago since the change in management. I tried the beef and vegetables in oyster sauce, popcorn chicken with fried vegetables, and home made tofu.
It is a bit pricey but the interior deco had the "classy" environment look. And it is byo wine.
Staff are friendly and polite. Will be back to try the Marmite chicken that has been recommended and also the lunch menu.
Food was nice, service was not.
The boss was an impersonal and rude woman.
After sharing a story about sitting a restaurant as a kid with my parents. The fond memories I had using a lazy Suzie on the table there. Which I shared with my son on this day, whom had never used one himself.
I had asked if we could be seated at one of the tables which were all empty.
The first waitress was happy to reseat us there.
The boss lady interjected, and shut down this nice gesture. I decided to share my story in the hope she would show some kindness and allow this one time.
It's a shame as the food was nice. Unfortunately, I won't be spending my money here ever again. There's plenty of other Chinese restaurants that are on par with quality but have good customer service.
Food not too bad all round, service was EXCELLENT.
the wontons... err... yeah. give it a miss. its weird.
My family and I went here for dinner recently and had a lovely experience. The staff were friendly, accommodating of allergies and provided prompt service. The food was delicious, everything we ordered was great. I will definitely be coming back the next time I'm in the mood for Chinese food!
