I rarely rave about places, but this time the food was genuinely amazing! I just have to recommend it—Sunshine Restaurant near Riverwood train station.
I really hope more people get a chance to try it. Honestly, it’s hard to find claypot rice, milk tea, and pineapple buns this good even in Sydney.
The claypot rice was a feast for the senses—flavor, aroma, and presentation all on point. The braised beef brisket was tender and flavorful, the Chinese sausage and duck were rich and aromatic, and the soul of the dish—the crispy golden rice crust—was perfectly done. The heat control was spot on. Absolutely delicious!
The milk tea is a must-have in any Hong Kong-style café, and this one nailed it. The tea base was just right—not too strong or bitter—and the milk ratio was perfect. The overall taste? Four words: “Fragrant tea, silky milk.” So good!
The pineapple bun is also worth trying. The ones from bakeries are often flat and soft, sitting around too long. But the one I had today was round, full, and fresh. The top crust was still crispy when I bit into it—you could taste the freshness and care in how it was made. No shortcuts here!
Note: I went for lunch on a Tuesday and it was easy to get a seat and quick service. But a friend went on Saturday night and it was packed. Since claypot rice is made to order, it takes longer when it’s busy. So if you’re going on a weekend, plan to arrive early!
